Being Jesus to the lost, broken & rejected

Through Living Word Centre and the ministry of the ARK, the Word for Life Trust is reaching out to the lost, broken and rejected in Churachandpur, in Manipur NE India. Sharing God’s love in action with those affected by drug addiction, mental illness and abuse, we are witnessing lives changed, inspired by the hope found in Jesus, that in Him there is “freedom to the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners” (Isaiah 61:1).

Drug addiction, whether it be to local alcohol or cheap heroin from Burma is endemic, destroying the lives of young people and tearing apart families. Prostitution & crime is rife. And sadly Manipur has one of the highest incidence of HIV infection and AIDS (proportionally) in all India.

Manipur though is a beautifully unique and an exotic place to visit, but it’s people are in desperate need. CCPur is Manipur’s second largest town yet remains a poor, dirty and lawless place.

Neglected by the world, but not forgotten by God!

We are here to “be Jesus” in this place.

WFLT was established in the UK in 1996 specifically “to help individuals and churches to communicate God’s love effectively in His world – evangelism and healing working hand in hand.”

Following the death of Revd. Elizabeth Brazell, founder director of WFLT, in June 2007, Stephen & Diki Hawkins were appointed it’s Co-Directors.

Since 2004 Stephen & Diki have been living in Diki’s hometown of Churachandpur, pioneering and establishing the ARK. By God’s grace there is now a well established local team able to manage the day to day running of the ARK. This has enabled Stephen & Diki follow God’s call on them to be based in the UK to help re-establish WFLT in the UK once again as an active Christian community and ministry of comfort, encouragement, healing and transformation.
